Back to the discussion: is that method of feeding the supply end on an NM cable non-NEC-compliant?

That is: a plug and cord fed through a plate and wire-nutted to the NM in the box, sorta like a pendant fixture.

I've actually used these because some of the cables had pre-installed connectors that wouldn't pass through any other nice looking plate.
