An equipment manufacturer (overhead door) supplied 20 feet of shielded flexible cord with one end factory terminated at their 3 phase motor to be connect to their control panel. They also provided various low voltage (<50VDC) multiconductor cables for other controls integral to the equipment. The local inspector is rejecting the installion because our electrician ran the cords in conduit (metal), one of which passed through a wall. The motor cable and low voltage cables were run in seperate conduits. He sites 400.7-10. My contension is that as is the case with many other articles, 400 does not apply to wiring integral to equipement. Am I wrong? The manuafacturer recommends the use of shielded cable in their installation documentation but does not specify installation/protections. Any comments would be appreciated.
