So If I mount the switch box on the wall then the porcelain is okay. A little absurd with the weight of a porcelain. There ought to be an exception there.

I have never come across this situation of exposed screws. I agree that would be an issue but is I wall mount the box the screws would still be an issue. That is just a bad installation.
Don't get me wrong I always use round boxes for lights in the ceiling. I just don't see it as a big issue in the attic for a porcelain.
