he's in a Peruvian prison...he's the king of the prison...he has about 30 prisoners working for him doing electrical work...that's how he pays his way...he says it's like working in LA, just more english spoken on the jobsite...

While we're on the subject, how many of you spend triple the normal cost to get back-screw receptacles? I love working with them, I wish they would all just be made this way, but who can justify the cost?

I only use back wire receptacles. I generally only use stranded in pipe and use self grounding backwire receptacles. IMO the labor savings more than makes up for the extra costs.

Back Stabbin

I have been on two resi service calls where the stab failed, and the plastic box was damaged. Always wrap the wire around the screw.

Just two? I lost count around a hundred or so.

On comm. jobs I splice on a pig tail and hook the screws. As far as the residential work goes it depends on the builder, some are happy to pay the extra few bucks to pig tail and hook. Others, (the majority) want back stab only. Since it is leagal and when I've asked inspectors opinion they would rather not see the back stab but it's approved so that's what I give them.
