Fire department wants 200 DEGREES RATED HEAT DETECTOR NOT HEAT ALARM AND COMPATIBLE SMOKE ALARM TO BE IBNTERCONNECTED BY RELAYS

WE USED TO GET KIDDLE HD135 Heat alarm, Kiddle relay (sm 12x) and kiddle smoke alarm (i12060 or i12040A), now the Fire department says they need 200 degrees rated HD.
any body out there has encounted such Equipment. please advice,.

SEE THEIR COMMENTS
1. The plans provided are unacceptable due to the proposed heat ALARM. Heat detectors
should be proposed and should have a higher temperature rating given that the ESS units will be
placed in an unconditioned space. This heat DETECTOR should be as close to 200 degrees as
possible and compatible with the proposed relay, and smoke detectors in the home.
2. Show the interconnection of the proposed heat detector and smoke alarms on the single line
diagram.

Manual links:

SM120X, see Figure 3 for wiring with a heat detector to activate connected alarms

System Sensor 5604, 194F mechanical heat detector (or 5602 to add rate of rise detection)

What kind of occupancy is this? Residential or commercial?

Edit: I re-read your post and see 'home'. Is there a genuine reason to be worried the garage temp will get higher than about 130deg F under normal circumstances?

I find the request bizarre, fwiw.

This is residential. well i dont know the inside information but the office of fire marshall document was updated to require 200 degrees rated heat detector proabalby with new code cycle. This jurisdction lies in Palm Desert area, where ambient outside temperature sometimes exceeds 120 degrees. so probably thought the garage temperature would be way higher.

So you just need to substitute a mechanical 194F heat detector, such as System Sensor 5604, for the HD135 heat alarm, and wire the SM120X relay accordingly.
