Best way to tap a feeder to a fused disconnect?

did you ever have any problems with those? i dont really like using any insulation piercing connector like that. id rather use a split bolt or something like that

No, I haven't, but I use them when tapping energized is the most important thing. It depends on how much of a facility you'd have to de-energize otherwise.

derf48, that's an interesting idea. Where would you find double barrel lugs? Are they common?

They would likely have to be from the manufacturer of the disconnect they are to be installed in, replacing the current (and assumed) 'single-barrel' load-side lugs.
