BTW, I have improvised if I didn’t have a bushing for rigid conduit. I have used the protective busing on the threads. Stays on well, keeps wire off the metal, is not sharp itself.

Didn't they use to make something called "insuliners"? Seems to me I remember my old boss talking about them but that was 50 years ago.

Found the insuliners on line. They are just for pipe. Any time I tried to buy them the supply houses looked at me funny

Are they the thin grey split type that you can install after wire pull? Slip in side pipe? I've used them a few times. Nearly always had to order them.

never seems to be enough redheads with MC reels lately. is there a really heavy duty type of antishort bushing that you would recommend? part number? thx
I hear you.
I'll just order extras from the supply house.
They are kind of pricey for what they are.
FWIW:It's empowering to know the minimum requirement but there's nothing wrong with doing more than mini.

heavy fiber bushings for conduit or antishort bushings for AC? appreiciate your time
We only used the heavy fiber bushings on equipment that had a lot of vibration. Finally I replaced the AC cable with a crush resistant non metallic liquid tight what I still call sealtite. Made this sealtite longer to have a long 180 degree bend to better handle the vibration. Had to fix numerous violations when the GC saved money and had his carpenter install a 200 amp service with two single meter cans and wires spliced In a trough. One of the violations was he did not use bushings on any of the pipe nipples. The AHJ allowed me to slip in these heavy fibre Thomas & Betts Bushings in place of regular plastic bushings.
