This would likely be a discussion for another thread, but IMHO some signage indicating Remote Control possible.

Every remote switching breaker I’ve ever worked with has a local bypass.

Here is a pic of the Eaton breaker showing it also has local bypass

Wi-Fi is not blocked by a metal enclosure?

Cheers, Wayne

Nah as long as you have an AP by the enclosure it’ll pickup. Worst case like someone said you could put a small antenna inside the cabinet.

I sense a code change in the near future. What about a warning label?
Remote control breakers have been around since at least the mid 80’s. I installed Square D’s in a Sam’s Club in Panama City, if I remember correctly. They had issues with the plastic drive gears wearing out, and replaced them within a year. I was in a Sam’s Club last year, they were still using them, though I think they are obsolete, and cannot get replacements. I just changed the controlled circuits to contactors, and used the remaining good breaker to drive it for the rest of the circuits.

With Eaton (old style) the only way to bypass was to turn off the controller power, turn the breaker off, then back on, leaving the controller power off. With Square D, there is a little white tab, that is released using a control screwdriver, letting it pop out. (Home Depot had Square D install a plastic wedge to keep store employees from overriding the breakers) Each breaker has one, controller power can be left on. The upside, unlike Eaton, you can individually override each breaker, and the rest will function normally. The downside, is the EMS command will trigger the motor every10-15 seconds, eventually wearing out the breaker if left in override months at a time. The breaker state will not change, but you will hear the motor try.
