Good intention without
enforcement is worthless.
As mentioned in my PM to you - but for the benefit of others - the only enforcement that I know of in regards to this law - is the paperwork involved in certification of labor compliance in prevailing wage work. i.e. so many required apprentice hours with the JW hours - it is the only place I know of that will require your JW number is an audit of that paper work...

That said I have a feeling that in the very near future - some expanded enforcement my just pop up out of the blue to protect the interests of certain parties involved in other markets. Since the DAS is allowed carte blanche in creating or rewriting the law to suit their needs - you never know what to expect out of them - their needs may have changed.... The economy has changed - some of us may even welcome enforcement if it includes us. However the DAS has a history of being vague, and exclusionary.

You could get a California License but, the only one that will know you
have one is you, and the one cashing the check.
To be absolutely clear - a "License" is a C-10 from the CSLB allowing you to contract. (Typically called a "Master" in other places.) "Certification" is from the DAS - allowing you to be employed legally. If you hold a C-10 (like I do) and are employed by someone else (like I am) you still need to be "Certified".....

The funny thing about taking a C-10 contractors test is that yes, it is like a
"Masters" in other states. But, IMO the C-10 and Masters tests are completly
different. IMO there is no California C-10's that could pass a "Master" test
without a lot and I mean a lot of study. I've taken both and the Masters was
a lot more difficult to pass than the C-10 in California. No offense what so ever.

Thanks Karl. I will just get myself to test ready, guaranteed to pass mode...just in case. Plus, it can't hurt to be up on the 08 code!

I need to restate something. I haven't met a C-10 in San Diego
yet that could pass a Masters Exam without a lot of study.
I've talked to guys here that told me they are Masters and I promptly
ask " In what state?" The answer has always been California. That's
when I start laughing and remind them California doesn't have Master
exams dude!:D I have yet to meet a C-10 here in San Diego, and I know
many, that belong to a NEC forum or even own a current code book.
Granted I'm a electrical geek with poor social skills. :D
