Seriously, my mother and sister just got back from China. All the newer govt. buildings look great from the outside. Alot of regular people still living in shacks with no plumbing or electric though.

I hadn't heard that, but I know that there are several countries that have adopted the NEC. That includes Mexico. Of course just because they adopted it doesn't mean they're using it.:smile:

When the "I" codes came out that was one of the legal issues that they had, the NFPA owns the right to the "International Electrical Code".

I would bet the translated Chinese version would produce some interesting results. Miss a word here or there and things can change drastically. :grin: And then the proofreader will have to check it for accuracy from cover to cover. What a fun job that will be. :grin:

The Chinese version will weight too much to carry with all that lead ink..

They had the same problem with the Spanish version.

I don't know if the NEC is translated in all these languges, but the IAEI has chapters in Canada, Japan, Mexico, Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

FWIW I hear that China uses a mix of British and Australian standards. It would be pretty hard to square those with the NEC.
