I hear China is thinking about adopting the NEC. Has anyone heard any further information related to this electrical topic?

Which one? The 1897 Code Book?

Seriously, my mother and sister just got back from China. All the newer govt. buildings look great from the outside. Alot of regular people still living in shacks with no plumbing or electric though.

Edit: All I could find is a fast fact on the matter from necplus.org

I hadn't heard that, but I know that there are several countries that have adopted the NEC. That includes Mexico. Of course just because they adopted it doesn't mean they're using it.

When the "I" codes came out that was one of the legal issues that they had, the NFPA owns the right to the "International Electrical Code".

I would bet the translated Chinese version would produce some interesting results. Miss a word here or there and things can change drastically. And then the proofreader will have to check it for accuracy from cover to cover. What a fun job that will be.

They had the same problem with the Spanish version.
