In class 1 div. 1 area we need to install a cat 5 cable for communications what rules apply to this type of install with seals, conduit ? Conduit will run from a non classified area to class1 and then out to a non classified area again. Can pvc conduit be used for this type of run ?
Any help with this type of installation will be appreciated.

Unfortunately, you have not given us a sufficient description of the intended installation to give specific answers. So, for the moment, we can only offer general/speculative answers.

Basically, Section 501.10(A)(1)(a) will permit any wire or cable that is suitable for installation in threaded RMC or IMC to be so installed. PVC is only permitted underground and installed as noted in Section 501.10(A)(1)(a) Exception unless the field wiring is determined to be Intrinsically Safe [Art 504], (It ain?t as simple or easy as it sounds)

A great deal will depend on how, if, and where the cable will be field terminated and, if the cable is factory terminated, whether it is suitable for installation in raceways.

Seals in the Class I, Division 1 location must conform to 501.15(A), (C) and (D) or, if the wiring is Intrinsically Safe, Section 504.50.

BTW ?non classified? means no one has actually determined what the classification should be; i.e., it was NOT classified. Unclassified is the proper term.
