Good Morning. I am wiring an apt complex that has a combination smoke/carbon device located above a doorway that enters a vaulted room. My question is can I install the unit above the door or do I have to place it all the way up at the vault peak. It would be very hard to access later. Thanks in advance for your input.

This looks similar to a very recent thread. If the room is 900 square feet or less, and more or less square, the detector should be on the ceiling at an elevation that puts it 4" down from the peak, but not more that 36" down from the peak. If the vault peak is WAY up, like 30', then this may not be the proper detector for this application.
