Just curious: Anyone know of the whereabouts of a complete set of original NEC codebooks?
COMPLETE - I think you're shooting a little high..... ORIGINAL.... both combined is a moon shot with a bottle rocket.

Short of building a collection yourself - you may have to wait for some eccentric old Electrician to die.... And hope his widow sees some value to them and puts them on Ebay rather than in the Bay.

I have from 69 to 08, and 59. I notice that it went from 71 to 75 (4 years) wonder why.

The year of the Code as it was finished by the NFPA used to be on the Code book. However, most states and jurisdictions would not adopt until the following year. It was decided to put the following year on the Code so that it would have a fighting chance of having the year of adoption on it instead of the year of the copyright. For instance, Indiana is trying to adopt the 2008 Code withe Indiana amendments by the end of 2008 (it may not happen). :)

I'm just trying to find out if a complete set, all original copies sitting on one shelf, even exists.

Lots of new technology came out then, and it took an extra year to hash out the details of everything.

Wait until you start finding them before '59.... there was no 3-year standard before then. Some are every year (the 50's have an issue every year), some are 4 years apart. Look on page 1 of any recent NEC.

Page 1 of the 2005 Nec has the history and development of the NEC. All years are listed ,it would be very impressive to find all books dating back to 1897.
