Dennis, I'll bet there are as many people running Windows 3.11 as there are running ME! :D

I think Bob is still running windows 98--- he won't get off all that money he has.

Honestly...I would rather run 95 or 98 instead of ME.

Totally agree with that. I never used ME or 2000 and I ran 95 & 98 for years without much trouble. Things were so much simplier in some ways when I had my old 286-- my first puter- a hand me down from my brother.

My first computer was a 8086 10mzh, with a 5 1/4 floppy drive, anyone remember those? and It was hooked up to a tv... it came with a whopping 256k of ram... I remember upgrading to 640k. they gave me a free 300 baud modem with the upgrade... kids today do not know how bad it was!

That Old ? ?

That Old ? ?

Get with the 90's Gezz , of course you could just buy a Mac !

Save your money, see if you can get a new box with XP... not Vista

Althought 3.11 had a better networking feature than any since!

LOL....yeah I remember the first time I saw a computer it was HUGE. with the giant flashing green cursor on a jet black screen, floppys so big you had to use both hands because they truely were "floppy", compared to todays stuff it's hilarious to think thats how it all started.....kinda like thinkin back to the days of 8-tracks......what the heck's a CD? can I play it on my record player?

Sorry to ask a completely different question. I got an Ipod and I have a pc. I need Service Pack2 now. Last time I tried to load SP2 I lost the entire hardrive. Any thoughts on how to safely install this or am I returning an Ipod?

if you have windows update enabled it will download sp2 automaticaly, and create a restore point before installing it. if sp2 doesn't take do a system restore. you may have to disable any anti-virus software you have installed in order for sp2 to take.

I'm logging off and changing computers now. If I'm not back in an hour send help and pizza.

I'm on XP home now. The directions with the monitor say:

Right-click on the windows desktop
properties
settings
desktop area?
set the resolution

I have no desk top icon!

it's not an icon, what your monitor is displaying is the desktop.

Chris and I worked it out with PM's. He is all set. I will thank you for him.

I would have Thanked You All, but I'm a little busy with a new toy!

Thank you.

And a special thanks to the D.A.

OK, Great, stop studing the mirrors...

Aim your piggy bank at a NVidia Card, they specialize in dual monitors cards. Then you'll really be glowning!

http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html Of course that'd only be for 98 and up!
I use two NVidia dual monitor cards. I use a 24" Widescreen for my primary, along with two 19" and a 17". It rocks. :)

You had me worried for a moment. I thought I was going to see a clean desk, the sure sign of a sick mind. ;)
