You had me worried for a moment. I thought I was going to see a clean desk, the sure sign of a sick mind. ;)

Some might say the poster of Iron Maiden and Marilyn Manson would be a sure sign.

Not me, though. I bet it was a great show. Did you go?

No...it is actually a poster a friend of mine brought back from Dublin, Ireland. He knows what a metal head I am, so he figured i would like it. :)

OK, I am not a gamer but would like dual monitors, which card(s)?
Many to choose from and don't know the particulars...

The 8600 series is, from what I hear, a good performance card and not too costly. I believe they all are dual output capable, but you should check the specs to make sure.

If you go to the nVidia site linked above, under the ENJOY column, click on "Choose. Compare. Buy." On the following page you have the opportunity to make several choices which affect the card suited for your 'puter and your budget. If you know a bit about your system's specs, use the Advanced Questions to narrow the results.

The last concert I went to was the Blue Man Group.

i've got the nvidia 8600 gt with dual monitor setup. 27 and 24 inch lcd's:smile: the card has dual dvi-i connectors. because dvi-i and vga are compatiple, an adapter which they supply with the card will allow you to hook up to a vga monitor. i'm not a gamer so i can't speak for the performance of the card but works well for me. there's a review for the card out there, i'll try to find it, they say that the 7000 series is better than the 8600 series.

here's the review http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=2237&cid=3&pg=11

New Issues

New Issues

1) How do I check hardware installed. ie sound card ect.

2) I had a free AVG and can't find it on Google

3) When responding to a post I would left click and high light an area then right click delete. I don't see this as an option with XP.

Thanks

My first computer was a Digital Group KIT! (Denver, CO) circa 1976. Good thing, while I could still see all them little, itty bitty pins!

Specs:
1 CPU slot, 1 TVC slot, 3 memory slots, and 4 I/O slots.
6502 CPU, 2.5 MHz, 2K on-board RAM, 1702A 256-byte boot ROM, 32K static RAM using 64 TMS4044NL RAM chips, parallel I/O, TV readout and cassette controller. Talk about frustrating, try loading basic from a cassette tape!

You are correct - those youngsters have had it too good for too long . . .

Re: the Blue Man Group - doesn't that face paint clog up their poors?

Best Wishes Everyone in 2008

My first computer was a Commodore VIC-20.

(What's a hard-drive?)

I knew a guy who built a computer that was a box with a row of 16 switches, a row of 16 lights, and a pushbutton.
