I've used a GB SuperBlower once, and it did pretty darn good.

i like the ideals personally just because i like the color:wink:. gb sucks. i do have a 1/2" gb thats a benfield type though. its the only one ive ever seen with the notch and the star. but it seems like it rolls your pipe.

I musta used the only good 1/2" GB bender they ever made off the production line, because I fought very hard to make sure I got it every day. It did have lines- no numbers (so not dummy proof) but it had lines and i found that the bends were very consistent. I've picked up some very poor ideals in my day. In general a greenlee is a pretty consistent bender.
Mostly tho a bender won't matter to much, it's primarily the user of the bender and ocasionally you end up with a shipment of bad pipe that won't bend well no matter how careful you are with it.

WOW Sometimes I thought it was me just having a really bad day. I have to add this one to my book of excuses for not having a productive day.

I've seen some brutal pipe... No amount of foot pressure and care could bring it around without a lot of wrinking...

I've had that problem with emt as well. We had a batch of 1 1/4" emt that would have rolls in every bend. We used every type of bender we have and it didn't matter.

Like anything you buy these days, there is only a couple of manufactures that makes stuff for everyone, they just stick their name on it, and market it as their own. I have seen Square D contactors in blue boxes that are made by GE. Siemens, GE, and Square D contactors made by ASCO, ect.

I certainly prefer Ideal, but I don't see anything wrong with Greenlee or Klein.
Maybe it's the color. :D

The one GB bender I bought years ago has been a life saver though. It bends re-bar with the best of 'em. I never could get nice bends in EMT with the thing.

what is the biggest problem with the GB benders - something wrong with the shoe? someone said it rolled pipe during the bend? but it seems everyone is in agreement on this but just no reason why - as for the rest of GB products i feel they are a bit cheesy - like the stripper with the built in voltage tester - they make fiberglass fish rods that are pretty good - but that is a product is identical no matter who makes it -

Right here.
My only problem with GB is that handle straight up is 45 degrees. Easier to multiply by 2 for 30 degrees. I don't have my 1.4745 times tables memorized.

yes i see that as a problem - it also explains why my offsets were comming up a bit off - but other than that i cant really see a big problem with em - maybe i havent bent enough pipe to know -
