Industrial complex with all rigid conduit. What are the rules for rigid conduit connecting to a 1600A bus duct disconnect? The bus is secured to steel beams above with allthread rod and lateral supports, if that makes any deference. Does conduit require a flex or seal tight conduit before attaching to the bus duct disconnect and if so what code is it in?

It is common for rigid conduit to be run directly to the bus plug. There should be no need to allow for movement.

Some manufacturers may recommend connection to larger bus duct switches with FMC or some other flexible connection on vertical riser applications. Siemens requires their 400 amp and larger switches to be independently supported with springs and recommend FMC connections.
