CONDUIT SUPPORTS

Hi...we are designing conduit system with supports and have a quick question. Code says to support conduit every 10' min. or use spacing based on table. We have a couple of 2" rigid conduits and a couple of smaller 3/4" conduits. The table allows supports every 16' for 2". Can I support 3/4" conduit off of 2" conduits during span to keep structural support spacing at 16'? Does the code allow that?

if it is emt you cannot. if it is rmc or imc you can.

Thanks...is that called out somewhere in the code? It was my general feel, too, since rigid is threaded.

The table allows supports every 16' for 2".

What table is this?

The table is at 344.30(b)(2) 2005 NEC.

article 358 describes emt, its allowed uses, and dissallowed uses. i believe you will find a prohibition on hanging anything from emt except fittings in that article.

the articles describing rmc and imc do not contain that prohibition.

if it is not prohibited, it is allowed.
