Daisychaining 2x4 lighting fixtures

Heated, if not hot...

My coworker was running a job in which he daisychained 2x2's and recieved a fine from the fire marshal because it was not box and whip...mind you it was in a bank, with 20 ft acoustic ceilings, 25 ft fire rated ceiling where boxes would have been mounted...see a problem if theres a loose wirenut?

A fine ? He might have a right to fail the job but a FINE ? I would take that ID 10 T to court and let him hang himself. If he is stupid enough to even try to defend himself let him.

I've been thinking about this and I cannot find any "Logical"
reason why daisy-chaining fixtures woud be a safety issue.
I can see the safety issue involved when using flex exceeding
6' with no EGC,250.118 (5) (c), but not for MC or AC cable.

He is, he said it would have been a warning, but since we had it energized it was a safety hazard...also, the job hadn't been inspected yet either...he was just there to check licenses and saw it

That fire marshall will look like the fool he is when he gets to court. Don't know about him but i am not above a good good whipping . But then i am a redneck.

He had an whipping once, he fined a bunch of illegal brick layers for setting boxes in courses of brick, saying that was electrical work...the whooped up on him now he carries a gun and acts like a bad...btw he was a union apprentice and landed the job with the fire marshal...giving him a masters license and authority...can you say big head syndrome..?

When dealing with guys like this, you have to make them show
you in print where you are not compliant with a NFPA or local code.
"Because I said so", is not acceptable.

Now who said anything about killing ???????????

Jim, you know what you said, end of story. If you have any more issues with your posts being removed send me a PM, the discussion is over in this thread.

And I agree. As a matter of fact, I am dealing with one that fits that description now.

Actually i debated my bar issue with a friend that is a state inspector, he has seen it. We never really came to a solid answer but he did ask me if i have a wire barried inside. I can respect a man that uses the code and not the badge. And for what its worth i am still not sure if i am right on that one. I some how think i am right but only because of wording not intent.

Huh?
What?
I would have politely said "no thank you" and handed it back

I'm the Senior service tech, so I get to go behind the new construction guys and fix their screw ups! Usually it's wires skinned by shoving 6# 12's through the small hole in the connector.

Let them fix their own mistakes. Then they will learn to do it correctly.

The only lesson that is learned now is, "It doesn't matter if we do it right, someone else will fix it"

If they stop screwing jobs up you will be out of work.LOL
Seriously you have some very unskilled men if they can't install double barrel mc connectors.
