I am currently attending a class at a local community college. The subject is Master Review, to take the Master Lisence test. The question was brought up about box fill calculations. In 314.16 (4) counting the conductors on a device. If you have two devices in a box, say (1) one Receptacle with 2-#12's and (1) one switch with 2-#14's. How are the yokes of each device counted? Some say the yokes count as double volume allowance of the largest conductor in the box. Some say double volume allowance for the largest conuctor on each individual device. The switch is the device in question.
The switch's yoke counts as:
A) 2-#12's
B) 2-#14's
Which is correct? Was it originally the largest conductor in the box and was a code change? Our instructor is unsure of the terminology in the code.
Can Someone help us?
Thank you,
