Could someone please help me find where in the code i could find all i would need to know about a detached shed. As far as is it okay to use nm cable or do all metal enclosures have to be weather proof.

Around here, NM and plastic boxes would be the norm. I realize some will have issues with this, but they'll get over it. :D

Is there a reason you are asking should they be WP. Is this a shed that will allow water to get inside?

I know that has been the norm but unless the shed is a dwelling unit the changes in the 2005 NEC make exposed NM in a shed a violation.

My suggestion is to wire the shed with MC.

 Yep... I'm already over it...

So your 'over' following the rules?

334.10(3).

Under the current NEC a shed in the yard is not a dwelling unit, that means it is a 'other structure' and must have a 15 minute finish rating if you want to use NM.

I agree with Iwire. I don't understand why the CMP felt that change was needed, but that is the way it is written. Makes little sense to me...

I was just joking with Peter...
