We have disconnect switch after Service meter of 480 V service. Is additional disconnect is required before service meter? as per NEC230.71(C)

Is the disconnect before or after the meter? A meter disconnect is permitted by the NEC but not required. As stated the service disconnect rules are unchanged whether there is a meter disconnect or not.

OK, thanks to all the knowledgeable folks here I now understand the difference between 'cold sequence metering' and 'hot sequence metering'............but WHERE did the term 'sequence' come from ??

Just curious !! THANKS !

Don’t really know, that’s what the poco engineer told me. Those services are not CT, so the meter is plug or bolt in, so I assume it is to make it safer for the meter to be installed, unenergized, hence the “cold” part.
