Got you one of those really skinny shovels? They're a life-saver when you cave in a Ditch-Witched trench. Not much dirt moved per shovel full, but at least you don't have to dig undisturbed soil like you would if you only had a regular shovel.

You can't trench without one! I remember in the 'ole days when they were not available, guys would take a cutting torch to a regular round nose shovel and cut the two sides off down to the width that they wanted.
