Re: Do you put the stickers on?

Jim I asked that little fat guy in pasco that same question.Answer was they come with the device so they are required,I balked he asked me to open a new gfci and not find them in the package and he would pass without stickers applied.Well we all know where that went.
So not NEC required but the manufacturer supplies them in the box with a gfci device.
Next question Some gfci devices come with 6 stickers some 8 some 10 does that also limit the # of receps on that circuit.

Yes.

One is never NEC required and the other is sometimes NEC required.
How do you figure? A downstream 3 wire receptacle served by an upstream GFCI for a 2 wire receplacement that has no ground requires both stickers.
How do I figure?

Apparently I figure wrong  :D

That is what happens when I break my own rule of checking the code and not working from memory. :p

MC cable comes with anti-short bushings but they are not required to be used either. GFCI receptacles come with finish plates but I could through them out and use a different one if I choose. The list could go on all day. Your inspectors are out in left field. But I think that we've established that before.

The little fat guy is a retard. Again no facts to back it up. There are also screws in the box. Does that mean I can't use longer screws if my box is set back too far?

Don't you guys ever say ok little fat guy show me the requirement, or do you just wag your tail and say ok whatever you want buddy. :D

How many more times can i use "little fat guy? " :p

Now let me get this straight, you have guys doing an impossible number of "inspections" (term used lightly) and the thing they bust your balls on are gfci stickers that are not even required? Your state motto should be "Florida, we ain't to bright but at least it ain't snowin"

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

Scott guess you can call it caving in on somethings. But realize that I don`t have enough hours in a day to do the job.never mind arguing for hours over is it required or show me where it says. When it comes down to it he either signs it off there and then or prolongs the final by tagging it and it has to be recalled.
It is a no win no lose situation ,either way we are against a wall fight it no final no closing just extend the situation.Go along and they ( he )Knows we are against a wall.
I have stood there and asked him as he was rolling 15 inspections why would he add more work to himself when we can take care of it right now.He just smirks and waddles away.
I have talked to his cheif the head building inspector and there is no use to trying to reason with him."Because I said so" he knows we are against the wall with the builders and he finally has a chance to be the one that picks the guys on the team so he runs amok knowing we don`t have the time to fight him so he wins"HORRAY FOR MY WADDLE WALKING RULE MAKING 50 LB OVER WEIGHT SELF"

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

That's fine Allen . I guess from this point on you will not complain about your inspectors anymore.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

OH heck no I will still complain :D Where else can I go to group threapy and stay at home at the same time ;)

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

A small secrect well there are 2 # 1 if he only knew how many ungrounded gfci receptacle or spanish stickers I have used over the past 2 years.#2Please GPS that extra hole so I can send him that way and get his retentve person somewhere to look for that release he so wants and needs.I am done finished and scott I will hunt you down if this thread keeps going ;)
By the way Charlie kudos,ok so do I get to stay and play:eek:

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I have seen those at the Depot. They are actially a cover that installs on a standard duplex.
It is part of a new social program to help the lower income folks get a little peice of electrical luxury. They think they have those fancy decorator outlets. It really makes them feel better.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

Oh yea, I've seen them. I wonder if they cause problems with the male plugs not staying in. (Especially old recps.) I remember these plates looked kind of "thick".
I think they're a lot more expensive than just changing the receptacle, but as long as it makes them feel better!?! :D

About $500.00.

And by the way I think they are ugly. It's too bad that high end dimmers and RadioRA only come decora style.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I got rather upset with a GC when i learned he charged customer $16 per device and i at the time only added $4.We all know the true cost is about $2.How i found out was the customer complained to me because one had a cracked cover plate. So you charge flat price or per device ?

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I like the decora switches, but really see no value in the receptacles.I have them both in my house.Extra cost was what / maybe $200
