Do you put the stickers on?

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I always found decora stuff to be a little bit harder to line up just right and fit flat at the plate opening. I bump up the price at least $250 a house. That little red plug in handle thing sold at the home depot (in the diy aisle) works great as a way to help manuver the outlets straight while installing them.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I use my plug tester to do that. Also find the plug tester to be great for times when we must remove an outlet while its hot. Will agree decora does take a little more effort so a markup is justified

I charge the difference in the price of devices plus the regular mark-up. Let the number of devices determine the extra cost.
I then add a few percent onto the extra price for the "bother" factor. Having to go out of my way to work up and get different material, leftovers I may not use for months or years, etc.
The installation is obviously no different.

BTW- No. I do not use the stickers. IMO it "cheapens" the look of the house.
I see this all the time in modulars, along with 20 amp receptacles, CYA I guess.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

From the 2002 codebook

406.3(D)(b) A nongrounding-type receptacle(s) shall be permitted to be replaced with a ground-fault circuit interrupter type of receptacle(s). These receptacles shall be be?marked "No Equipment Ground".

406.3 (D) (c) A nongrounding-type receptacle(s) shall be permitted to be replaced with a grounding -type receptacle(s) where supplied through a ground fault circuit interrupter. Grounding -type receptacles supplied through the ground fault circuit interrupter shall be marked "GFCI Protected" and "No Equipment Ground".

Fingers are not capable of typing the 2005 wording. They get lazy.

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

Why would the mention of stickers being applied pertains only too ungrounded receptacles and not grounded recps. Was this just an over site when 02 was written?

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

I knew that. Its just that after 6 pages of this stuff I figured its time to highlight just exactly what the code does require as far as the little stickers goes. How about some other colors besides blue? Might make the homeowners happy.

I'd start lobbying my family for the pdf, but it's a touch pricey for a Christmas present. :D

Re: Do you put the stickers on?

But ungrounded receptacles are the only ones that even mention any type of marking of gfci receptacles. What grounded receptacles don`t have to be marked
