Are there any exceptions that would not require a disconnect.This is one that control box is inside and 1 hp 3 phase 208 motor is outside and would not be in site.

No, the disconnect must open the power conductors to the equipment. See 430.103.Would a single pole switch that is in series with the 110 volt coil on the contactor be qualified as a disconnect ?
