Look again at Delaware requirements

RE: Delaware license # displayed on vehicles

Not any more...That's an old requirement.

I had not heard this, but upon searching the title 24 requirements on Delaware's web site it would appear you are incorrect. Look at the 3rd paragraph in the link, where it says: "1.3 Every individual who receives a license shall prominently display the words "Licensed Electrician" and the license number on the exterior of all vehicles used for work in not less than 3 inch letters and numbers..."

Where did you hear this was no longer applicable?

Indiana doesn't have a state electrical License, so its a No for Indiana, but they do for plumbers, and yes # is required for them, we have a lot of unmarked electrical van's with Illinois License plates roaming around jobs here now:mad:

We have tried to get the state to pass a state wide electrical License for a long time now, go figure they did for plumbers and not electricians:cool:

I am curious if the state you reside or work in requires license numbers to be printed on business cards, etc?

Yes, I think that is the law but we don't do it that way. I have a license number on all official communications with a customer, work orders, invoices and estimates and things of that nature.

I don't put the license number on business cards or advertising because in some areas they don't check and others can use your number for permits.

By the way just got a call from a customer that kept an invoice and business card from 13 years ago. It's good to leave a customer with all the right information.

I am not at home, so I cannot pull my license renewal packages. But, at some point that requirement was dropped.

It is there now, so I was incorrect as far as the current requirement and appologize.
The wording is different now, the last sentence with the ...'abbreviation'... is different.

We letter our vehicles anyway with all state and local licences, but there are many who do not, especially on commercial sites.

Alot of companies have that one, 'special' van or truck that has no markings, aparently to slide into areas 'under the radar'.

OK, I have not heard from NC or TN yet. I am getting ready to write and suggest this to my state representative. The unlicensed people are really making a major push for work and I am tired of it.

How about suggesting that all those doing electrical work in South Carolina be required to be licensed by the state.

Yes on all adds, truck, letterhead. They are looking into including advertising for journeymen and apprentices. State law does not allow temp agencies to hire jmen unless they have an EC on their staff.

license on advertising

license on advertising

I thought that in California it was required, but looking through a copy of my book of the California license laws it just says you can't advertise as a "Contractor" without being one.

I am in South Carolina and they do not.

Thanks,

To my knowledge, not in WI. Does not have to be on vehicles, cards, etc. However some have their Master's licenses put on cards & such anyways.
