Doorbell transformer in attic

Was there ever a fire from a transformer in the attic ? Only problem i see is that heat would cause it to fail sooner. There are recess cans that have transformers and there load is far longer than that few seconds on a door bell.
Some instruction say not recommended for the attic, some say don't put in the attic, some say don't put in high temperature areas, some even say don't put in a crawl space.

I think most of the Nutones transformers have a thermal overload in the transformer that will blow if overheated. It would be interesting to find out the rated ambient and the trip point.

Sorry to hear that...you must not sleep well at all. ;):D

I lose sleep over a great many things. Putting a teeny tiny transformer that may get used once a day on with a furnace isn't even going to come close.

I seriously doubt there's many statistics that can identify the cause of a fire as being connecting a doorbell to a furnace circuit.
