And if you don't install the dryer receptacle that 'thing' will be hot tapped into a panel or disconnect.

"Hey, dude, don't bust my chops!
The 'thing' plugged right in at my mom's house,
and the cord reached all the way to the garage!"

Larry, no photo visible, just a message that says

"Image Hosted By Tripod"
That's strange. It appeared at first. Let me see if I can fix it.

There we go. I had to download it, save it, upload it, and host it. Fortunately, I thought to change the URL of the image before I lost edit priveleges.

It is weird and it got weirder.

Once I used 'properties' to find the url and pasted it into my browser I got the picture by itself fine. Then when I came back to this thread I could see the picture in you post.

Now all I see is a X

(Repeat due to hack editing, I mean heck editing. :D)

It has happened several times before.

That's because I downloaded the image and saved it to my site. I thought to change the image URL before I lost editing priveleges.

Now all I see is a X
Try it again.

Using quote button now, not edit button.

Nope, when I did my cut and paste of the URL it was not yet a "Fine" url.

Try it again.

Yes working now, it is fine.

Nice...

Nice...

"DISCLAIMER: I am not an electrician and this is NOT A CODE DEVICE! Although this device is built to robust specifications it is certainly not to code. I ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR IT'S USE IN ANY WAY."

At least its robust...

"Though this is not to code I would surmise that is much safer."

"Piece of cake from stuff at home depot etc"

HEAVY DUTY Yeah Man...

"4-conductor stranded 8 guage SO wire to power the mains - that's heavy duty stuff"

Add to that list:

"5 30 amp circuit breakers".

Also, the text says the cord is 8, but the pix shows 10.....???

what I dont understand here is, If you have a circuit ran to the stage, why not just set a panel and recepts and bypass the garbage set ups that the bands would drag in?

Because that's an expense the venues just don't want to pay. Every nickel they don't spend is a nickel in their own pocket. Make the bands buy their own 200' cobbled-together cord instead.

take a look at picture number 6, what is the deal with the plastic gang boxes, smurf tube, and greenfield connectors? looking at the front of the box, I cant figgure out what they are for...

The amp & volt meters. They're panel-mount versions, hence the smurf tube & ty-raps.

how do you suppose the covers are attached to the 4" boxes? I don't see any screws
It may be those are the 4" boxes with device-mounting ears, like a 2-gang box.
