Dumb Question

not trying to hijack this thread, but in a related question - suppose you were installing a quazite box (with open bottom) as a juction box for direct burial exterior lighting. would the wire connectors for the cable/conductors have to be rated just for a wet location, or for direct burial ?

... I have never been requested to install some receptacles below grade before, until now. Can you tell me if there is a code reference against it? If not has anyone seen a UL approved box that would allow it? ....

With the Quazite box if you open it how do you get the branch services out, and maintain it being covered, do they make an access flap cover?

I'm wondering why you didn't go or suggest a power post or premanufactored camper type power pole. They been shown here before.

Our state fair ground went to above ground power posts all interlocking and up to 240V.

This is probably one of those areas where I do poorly as an inspector.
For exterior lighting and like circuits I don't get to concerned.
I recommend weatherproof wirenuts but don't reject if not used.

For larger circuits, feeders and service everyone seems to use the "Ilsco tap" and it is rated for watertight & direct burial so it has not been an enforcement issue.

Thanks hillbilly1. After some further thought I believe this to be a good solution. I can just set up the temp skid with the receptacles installed when an event occurs. Then in the off season I can store the skids and then just have a cover installed on the quazite boxes.
