Most installers use bare copper in the array. (under the solar panels and between solar panels and rails)
We then transition to green type THHN, THWN-2 or similar in conduit.
250.119 requires EGC to be green when is 6 AWG or smaller. Does that indication applies even if the cable used is type PV-Wire?

We haven't had to have a ground lug on every module for many years.

Who knows how it is in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica has adopted the US NEC as the electrical code. But they lack code enforcement or a building permitting system the last time I checked. So it's not uncommon to see cheaper, non-compliant, electrical work. Hence the jokes about the Costa Rica Suicide Shower.
