Electric Baseboard Heat

I don't wonder at all. He posted some comments on a public forum open to public scrutiny, and when he didn't get the answer that he wanted to hear, he cut and ran. It's clear to me.

I'm sure that this will get deleted, beacause these comments are definitely OT, however, I will stand up and defend myself....

First.. "open to public scrutiny" should not bother anyone whom doesnt have anything to hide.....other than ones privacy for obvious internet reasons.

Second..."didnt get the answer he wanted" You are totaly incorrect....If I didnt want others comments, I would have not asked for them. My reasons were for the abrasive, judgemental character of those whom I was trying have a civil conversation with.

Third...."he cut and run" If you think its because Im scared?, or perhaps cant stand the heat? or maybe not committed? you are incorrect, only that I realized Im spending way too much time in non-productive talk when my comments yeild abrasive reactions from others, besides, I've got better things to do.

This forum is a great tool, designed by great people, whom have a huge contribution to the electrical trade. And I for one am very greatfull, I am still commited to this wonderfull trade, but my contrubutions verbaly to this forum are very much resisted, except when I think I need to draw a line, or at least as long as the moderators will allow me to do so....

I'm just calling it how I see it based on your comments and attitude. I stand by what I said. You made a big fuss about leaving the forum and even started a thread about it.

I for one don't think it's wise for anybody to leave the forum. I see you're back...you couldn't stay away for long, could you? ;)

As for the "abrasiveness" that you speak of, that is very much a figment of your imagination. Yes, some guys come across as cold and uncaring, but that is usually just a cover. If you actually read the posts you will see they are being very helpful even if it's not delivered in a perfect package suited just for you. :)

Obviously,we've both spoken our minds and nothing I say will have a positive outcome as before, and I think the thing to do here, is agree to dis-agree because this sort of exchange has no benifiet to the forum or this topic....

That sounds like an excellent idea.

Just remember that this is a discussion forum for a reason. Not everyone is going to just line up and agree with everything you say. If you can learn not to take every comment made here personally, then you'll do just fine. :)

I know it is a full moon now.

First post/newbie/long-time lurker,licensed electrician.
Whew!...got that out of the way. I have the ability to install the much-needed baseboard in my wife's house (rental), but no time, so we're hiring a contractor to do it. Good, informative thread here. Any other questions that I need to ask the contractor, mainly to separate the good from the hacks? Want to look at separating my wife's hair salon, which is in the front of the house, into a separate sub-panel, maybe do a separate meter/sub-panel for the hair part. Also, which/what formula(s) can I use to project KWH of usage of the baseboard. As a side note to earlier posts, I have serviced and installed hot water baseboard systems for many years, usual specs. are around 650 BTU/ft., @ 180 deg. water temp. It's nice to be able to cut/splice it to get the exact amount required for the design, which rule of thumb is to calculate heat loss, around 70 deg. inside temp @ 0 deg. outside temp. Thanks for the advice in advance....mfm
