Emt as protective sleeve

That is for abrasion protection from the sharp edge of the stud it is not for protection for a screw or nail going through the cable. Low voltage cable is not nonmetallic-sheathed cable. NM cable is in Article 334.
Duh whoops. Where would you look to answer if you need to sleeve 18/2 to 0-10v dimming. That’s what he was running through a metal top plate?

The 0-10 volt cables would likely be covered under Article 725. Not that they directly apply to your installation this is about as close as you'll get: 725.3(J), 725.31(B).

Where does code allow emt as protective sleeve.
It sounds like the OP wants to know which raceway rules apply to sleeves.

Sleeves are not covered by the NEC.

When the material is assembled into a complete raceway the NEC has a lot to say based on the material and construction of the raceway.

I gotcha. So a sleeve is kind of a gray area.

But I’m sure we cant just go packing current carrying wire in a sleeve going 100’.
Underground boring oftens install sleeves. Concrete duct banks between manholes are usually sleeves. The EC then installs a smaller raceway like innerduct or cables into these sleeves.
