not by UL. UL lists it as a raceway.

Depending on the actual wording of the spec this could be a clueless designer using the wrong code article for the basis of said spec.

EMT conduit interchangeable in most bids I've seen,
Bridgeport makes them, I'm sure others do too, check the forum we talked about this Feb. of this year.

It is a raceway in the NEC as well. I'm not disputing that. What I am disputing is that any set of plans I have ever seen or any Engineer I have talked to regarding a job, or any inspector I have run across would use the word conduit specifically to exclude EMT. OTOH I have seen that word many times being used to exclude NM and MC.

I agree with you from a technically correct position, however, as an estimator I have seen EMT referred to as conduit more often than not. For example, "All wiring shall be in conduit." Then specifying EMT in walls, PVC under slab, etc. or even 3-3/0, #6G in 2" EMT Cond. on a feeder. So, I wouldn't dwell on that technicality.

Most all the time.

I can't ever recall having seen EMT referred to as conduit in a spec.

I have seen where specs say something like "unless otherwise noted, all conduit shall be in rigid...", and then having some places in the spec where it will allow for other kinds of raceways in certain cases like using PVC UG.

Here it is...

But you can .
My point is like others the cut-n-paste leaves it open for any interpretations. I too think they are talking galvrig but that's not what is written.

So according to the language posted, if you choose to use bushings with EMT, you still would not have to use 2 locknuts. As has been demonstrated before in this thread, EMT is not a conduit, it is a tubing.

I always like the projects that the Engineer said to use rigid conduit. Them I started running PVC and he says, you can't run that, I want Rigid.

Well, I say, that is a change order!
