Exhaust fan above indoor hot tub.

Not trying to alter the train of thought but.....Why is a closet not governered by a height requirement but a tub is ??? You can have a fixture 20 ft. above aff but if it is in the restricted area 6/12ins from the edge of a shelf it will fail.....

Because people can pile stuff however high they want on shelves, but short of becoming The Flying Nun they can't magically hover 20' in the air.

Because the code article says "3 ft horizontally AND 8' vertically".
You have to use both dimensions.
If it said 3' horizontally OR 8' vertically, you could take your pick.
Mark a spot in the center of a bathtub rim. Measure to a point thats 3' horizontal AND 8' vertical from that point. That's the closest that any part of that chantileer can be to the spot that you marked.
I guess that we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
