Flexable Cords and Cables

NEC section 400.7 (6) permits the use of flexable cords for utilization equipment to facilitate frequent interchange. Does this mean that fixed machinery that is not likeley to be frequently interchanges is not permitted to be wired with so cord ?

What do you call a cord with a male cord cap on one end and a recpt. of some type on the other end which is used to plug stuff in?


a cord drop

an extention cord

either of the above
