Is it code to power fire smoke dampers from an emergency panel? They always seem to be powered from an EM panel. Thanks

I think they could be on normal source as they operate on a fail / safe as power out they shut down.

We always supply them from an EM panel with a breaker lock-on device.

The op asked if it were code. I looked thru IFC, IMC, IBC and not required to be on EM. Now smoke control as in stair press system yes. I did not look at NFPA 72

You would also need to look at the NYC code amendments because hg works in NYC.
