I like that volta! that was my first thought. Say someone wants to go back to single taps. your electrode system should work at 100% regardless of what type faucetts anyone chooses to use.

interior piping is not a grounding electrode, it is just required to be bonded if metallic piping.

Yes, it is an excellent answer. My understanding is the H-C bond at the tank is to prevent any stray currents from corroding the tank through electrolysis. As was already mentioned, dielectric unions are required. Normally this is done on electric tanks since the heaters can develop pinholes and leak current to the tank.

Dielectric unions are to prevent electolysis. The electrolysis is caused by dissimilar metals in contact with each other in the connection to the water heater. Usually if copper fitting is to be screwed directly into the hub you will have a problem at this junction. I think that the plumbers and people who write plumbing codes do not understand this and think the problem is coming from the electrical system. If there is an external source of voltage working on their connection it is DC current. AC current will not cause the break down of metals in the junction because the current is not in one direction.
