Generator sizing

That is my thinking. If you are being charged a demand charge, then that maximum value will be on the bill. There are certainly different commercial rate structures where you might not be billed for demand, so then I could see not having it. In my experience the vast majority of commercial accounts are billed demand however.
 
I get billed T & D charges based on max demand with a 15 min duration. So if I draw 100KW for 10 minutes and 50KW for 16 minutes the next highest for the billing period, all I see on my billing is the 50KW charge.

So I guess you can see where using demand numbers can be a problem

Utility here gives kwh only per month. See post #19. What do you think your opinion would be about question in post #19?

The extra 25% should cover that. In fact I have logged both demand and max KW, and I find that 125% of max demand is usually pretty close to max KW.

So you (or your client) are not billed for demand?

Yes you can measure for 30 days. What is the probelem? IT says you can measure for 30 days so why do you think you cannot?

I thought minimum 30 days metering wouldn’t be allowed if I have hospital like setting with essential branch and to size standalone generator which serve basically as service until new service switchboard are replaced

Be sure to consider kVA demand as well as kW demand. If you can get kVA data that will really tell you how to size and be ready for a big amp draw. (motors and compressors)
