2 pole 50A 30ma GFCI. Will the test button work if the white wire on the Breaker is not connected?

There doesn't need to be a load side neutral, however there must be a line side. 2p 50A GFCI breakers ala spas/hot tubs work fine and test/reset fine w/o a neutral from the load.
 
As others have said you need the neutral from the breaker connected to the neutral bar or the breaker will not function properly
 
the internal run from 120vac, but with a 2 pole ocpd you technically do not need the CT to power the internal electronics (from a ckt design perspective). i am kinda baffled as to why they have a N tail on a 2 pole gfi ocpd.

agree, with existing ocpd's. thats not what i meant. with a 2 pole you can make the internals run just fine w/o connecting back to the CT (N).
Use of same internals as what single pole units use is less parts to need in inventory?

you think the 1pole internals is the same as 2pole internals?
