Garbage disposal and/or dishwasher possibly

The explanatory information included in NEC 2014, 210.8 (6) states "Receptacles installed for disposers, dishwashers, and trash compactors are not required to be protected by GFCI's".

210.8 (6) states where receptacles are installed to serve countertop surfaces.
210.8 (7) states where receptacles are installed within 1.8m (6ft) of the outside edge of the sink.

...and (6) is not driving the truck when you're having to GFCI protect a disposal, a dishwasher, or a trash compactor. 210.8(A)(7) is, because you can't hardly install a disposal or a dishwasher receptacle and not fall within 6' of the kitchen sink.

If the writers of the commentary did not pick up on the NEC requirement, boy, that sure is embarrassing for them! :)

The commentary does NOT state that.

Read the "if" part.
