Am i reading this wrong or does the outlet behind the bar refrigerator have to be accessible from the sink to be required to be GFCI protected.

As the code reads there are no exception for a wet bar sink. All 120 volt receptacles within 6' of the sink need to be GFCI protected. The code does not make exception if it is not accessible.

It is the location that dictates the requirement of GfCI protection for all 125 volt 15 & 20 amp receptacle outlets, .. not the equipment . The refrigerator is plugged in., and that is enough. If the outlet is 6' 1" and the edge of the refigerator is 5' 8" no GFCI required. If the receptacle outlet for the TV is 6' from the sink at a wet bar it shall be protected .

so here is the million dollar question, i can put a freezer/frigde in my garage or basement on a single non GFCI outlet Perhaps next to a laundry or mud sink, but if i move it upstairs near my bar for acessibility, it must be GFCI. Am I correct with this assumption?

I have the solution!

I have the solution!

I have the answer to all the arguments in this two headed monster of a thread. Come 2011 (if everything goes my way and if the NEC decides to implement MY idea) ALL outlets everywhere conceivable on any piece of property "shall" be GFCI protected as well as AFCI protected.:D :D

Ask your way?

Ask your way?

Oh Goody!!!
Thanks for the warning!
Thats all we need is GFCI/ARC fault mains in all the panels.
Not attacking you BSTOIN, Just your theories behind your decisions.

210.(8) (7) has no exceptions ,.. if the receptacle is within six feet of a sink, even in the garage, it needs GFCI proptection, any 125 volt 15 or 20 amp, receptacle installed within six feet of the edge of the sink shall be protected.
