It would be interesting to put all that the members of this forum know about the problems with GFCIs and AFCIs onto a Wikipedia page. Making sure to include why these are written into the NEC and made into law at great cost to society as a whole. We are specialized in understanding a technology that others do not have the time to understand therefore we could hopefully steer the code making process toward one that takes into account ethics.

The problem is the manufacturers are the ones spending $$$ on informing the CMP's why they need to expand codes on use of those products. Who is going to take the time and $$$ to come up with good reasons to present to the CMP's to not expand those rules? If you don't put some time and effort (which generally takes some $$$) into it you probably not convincing them otherwise.

Most of us here have only done somewhat crude experiments that maybe show more investigating is needed at best, or quoted or reposted others that have done such things, where the manufacturers have much better labs and procedures but aren't going to give demonstrations or reports on the bad things they have discovered about a product if they don't have to.
