The problem is the manufacturers are the ones spending $$$ on informing the CMP's why they need to expand codes on use of those products. Who is going to take the time and $$$ to come up with good reasons to present to the CMP's to not expand those rules? If you don't put some time and effort (which generally takes some $$$) into it you probably not convincing them otherwise.It would be interesting to put all that the members of this forum know about the problems with GFCIs and AFCIs onto a Wikipedia page. Making sure to include why these are written into the NEC and made into law at great cost to society as a whole. We are specialized in understanding a technology that others do not have the time to understand therefore we could hopefully steer the code making process toward one that takes into account ethics.
