ground rods @ site poles

Maybe this has already been addressed,correct me if I/am wrong but it is not an NEC requirement to install a grd rod @ a site lighting pole.I ask this because a G.C. is telling me he has never seen site poles done without grd rods @ the poles.I told him this is required when designed or shown as a detail, not an NEC requirement...

I believe one could argue that a light pole is a structure thus it needs to follow art. 250.32. Not everyone agrees with this interpretation.

Some say a Pole is a structure-- hard to argue that.

Its the exception that allows not to put one in. More than one branch circuit to the pole will require one.

You are correct. I didn't have my thinking cap on tight enough.
