ground rods

To expand more on my ground rod delima. There are 3 overhead meters on one pole with one service drop from the power company to catch all 3. The meters are customer owned. No disconects are on the pole. The service continues from each meter to its corrisponding building (underground) to a 200A main breaker panel. The water systems are plastic and the buildings are wood frame. We are not required to hit the footer steele for grounding. Ground rods are sufficent here. I need in put on wether 2 rod or 6? Do all rods have to maintain 6' spacing or just the corrisponding pair for each meter?

Re: ground rods

3 buildings, 2 rods each, 6 rods.

Your installation only has the meters on the pole. The actual service is at each building since that is where the disconnect is located.

How many wires are you running from the meter to each building? (120/240 v 1 ph 3 w)

btw you can just reply to your original post. You do not need to restart it.

Re: ground rods

If I'm understanding your post each building will require 2 ground rods connected together with a #6 Cu and terminated with a #6 Cu at the 200 amp main breaker panel. You would repeat this scenario for each separate building. The 2 rods at each building would need 6' minimum of separation.

Slipstream, try to use the

button when adding more information or replying to a post. It can get confusing.

You have three seperate buildings. Treat each one as a normal, independent building.

As for the pole with the three meters on it, they are bonded by the neutral to the can, make sure of this. They are grounded by the utility's ground rod at the base of the pole.

Re: ground rods

I need to mention that the power company could have their own requirements, they always do. For this, it'd be a good idea to check with them about any requirements they might have.
