I've always use ridged pipe for a ground but an inspector told me I have to pull a ground wire. It says in the code book the ridged pipe can be used as a ground. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

That's correct, many metallic raceways (including RMC) are listed as an EGC so no wire type EGC is required. EF gave you the code reference.

(Note there are a few cases where a wire type grounding conductors are required such as in Art 517)
Can you give more specifics as to the requirement.
