Where is that code Art.
Greetings Tommy,

I think what they are trying to say is Type MC Cable is acceptable as long as it meets the requirements found in Section 330.10(A)(11).

330.10(A)(11) In wet locations where a corrosion-resistant jacket is provided over the metallic covering and any of the following conditions are met:
a. The metallic covering is impervious to moisture.
b. A jacket resistant to moisture is provided under the
metal covering.
c. The insulated conductors under the metallic covering
are listed for use in wet locations.

Is the metallic covering on MC actually impervious to moisture?

As Bob stated no.....but the stem of the section states "corrosion-resistant jacket is provided over the metallic covering" and then most of us who make such a product use item c (THHN/THWN-2 or XHHW-2 Inners)

His question was where is MC cable with 14AWG conductors allowed to be protected by a 30 amp breaker:blink:

I got the MC for 16 amp on 30 ocpd figured out sections if right ? Art. 330.80 then to 310.15 which has 14 gauge 75 degree 20 amps. Art440.6 (A) , (B ) Art 440-31 helps me to size the wire for the HP and Art440-22 for the max allowable setting for my overcurrent device. With that 16a X 225%=36a does that allow us to go up to 40a or down to 35a ?
