An option that hasn't been mentioned is radiant floor heat. Heats closer to area you're working and on your feet. Either electric or hydronic. More efficient than trying heat the air to make it warm.

Unless you are putting in a new floor or replacing an old one, probably not that preferable, especially if a concrete slab. Yes they are great though. Drive in a snow covered vehicle and maybe half hour later snow is all melted off, especially the underside that normally takes much longer if in a shop/garage with forced air heat. The water on the floor dries up more quickly also
